The Roberts hull at Bob Pottle's place.

This is the first hull from my Roberts/Abercrombie mold with fiberglass deck installed and 15" turret and 12-sided barbette cast. HMS Roberts had the same 12-sided barbette as the WWI Terror Class 15" monitors, but her later sister HMS Abercrombie had a normal round barbette.

Like the Terror Class the draft was about 12' so the entire bulge is penetrable area down to the flat bottom of the hull. Note the bulge stringer where the armoured sides start to slope up from the bulge almost to deck level. The 35 degree angle makes the balsa a little more resistant to BBs, like the armour on T34 tanks.

This is a twin ruddered ship with a 4' diameter turning circle, to my knowledge only equalled by the Class 1.5 Gorgon Class monitors. (Strike Models bought my molds for the Roberts and Gorgon Class monitors.)
