The model under construction appears to be an Edinburgh Class cruiser (HMS Belfast or Edinburgh).

On second thought it could be a Town Class CL. I was confused by the lack of a quarterdeck barbette but noticed the forecastle barbette is missing too. If it was Edinburgh or Belfast the furthest aft turret would be where the stern barbette cutout is visible, and X turret would be ahead of it on top of a section of superstructure, which I don't see.

There's something where it would be located but it looks like a turret from a different class of ship. Whether a Town Class or Edinburgh Class the turrets would be identical to those on HMCS Ontario beside it.

Just looked up some plans and photos - the model is a Town Class CL. There's a gap between the hangars in the forward superstructure for the forward funnel. On the Edinburgh Class there's no space between the port and starboard hangars because the funnels were much further aft.
