I never saw warship books till I saw this one for the first time. I was not familiar with Graf Spee or the other warships save for Bismarck and Missouri as Model ships. Paul March got the ball rolling and started building the first Cbt Warship in our province. Using the Cassette tape sent by Fluegel he started to make vacuform Turrets literally by melting the plastic over an oven burner . The plastic was on a plate of some sort and he connected a home vacume hose to draw the melted plastic over the wood form which was shaped like the Spee's main turret. Our first entry ships into the hobby were extremely fragile being all balsa with boxy sides and bottoms. However there was nothing around locally to compare the ships too so we were unique in having multiple large scratchbuilt rc warships designed for combat. Course looking back at them now they wouldn't have survived the first days battle but this was all new to us and very strange.
