Bob Pottle's Warspite. Circa 2007? This model was the best Allied ship in the Nabs Fleet and seen the most action. Extremely tough to put down under Bob's skillful Command and Tactics . Ships whereabouts was in California a few years ago. Current status Unknown.

I built this model from a much-modified early Ralph Coles version of the 1930's QE hull. Reduced the number of casemate guns, widened the forecastle, modified the bulge and stern shapes to be more accurate. The superstructure components and funnel were molded in fiberglass from one-use basswood molds and fiberglass decks were glassed to the hull.

Definitely my most successful RC warship model, built in 1999-2001 as a replacement for SNS Espana, which was too slow. Warspite saw action with NABS from 2001 - 2006 and at IRCWCC NATS in 2003. It teamed up with Marty Hayes' mid-1930s Warspite at the 2002 and 2003 Cannats and they were usually the last Allied ships afloat. (The NABS Axis fleet usually won Cannats.) Warspite was voted 'most feared' Allied ship at Cannats 2002.

The photo is from 2001 or 2002. Warspite was retired after the 2006 combat season and sold in 2008.
