Skytrex, a UK company, produces 1/144 scale biplanes suitable for use on models of British battlecruisers and early carriers like Furious, Campania, Argus, etc. In 'Battlecruisers' by John Roberts there are several photos of Royal Navy BCs with planes on 'flying off platforms' on the turret roofs, usually Sopwith Camels. If you've built a British battlecruiser model here's where you can add the platforms and biplanes: Courageous, Glorious - A and Y turrets Renown, Repulse - B and Y turrets Tiger - Q turret Lion, Princess Royal - Q and X turret Inflexible, Indomitable - P and Q turrets New Zealand, Australia - P and Q turrets It appears all of these ships carried Sopwith Camels by 1918 but may have carried the Sopwith Pup or the '1 1/2 Strutter' earlier. Furious carried the Sopwith Pup, Baby, and 1 1/2 Strutter as the hybrid BC/CV plus a very large seaplane I've yet to identify (wingspan around 60'). As the full WWI carrier Furious carried a squadron of Camels. Check out the Skytrex website. They sell models of the Pup, Camel, & 1 1/2 Strutter for reasonably low prices. I'll be putting Camels on the New Zealand, and Camels, Pups and 1 1/2 Strutters on the Furious. Bob
Curt, The WWI biplanes are no good for the WWII KGV, but if you go onto BSTF you'll see a recent thread about Aussie made 1/144 Walrus seaplanes that are right for the KGV and other WWI British ships. Bob
LOL my two remaining British battlecruisers (Invincible and Queen Mary) blew up before they got biplanes!
