Hey all, I have been in contact with a laser engraving site to produce what I think will be an excellent addition to our scale models. They are 1/16" sheets of wood laser inscribed to represent the 6"x10' douglas fir boards seen on most ww2 escort carriers (puncher, Essex etc). Four of these sheets are enough to do a full 1:144 sized ship. I'm getting a quote for 20 sheets to begin with and we''ll see how things go. Do I have a interest? Here's some photos. A good seal and these will be a beautiful addition to your ships badass factor! Currently the sheets are approximately 7.5 wide and 10" long each and each sheet is $15 but lower if we get more people on board. Interested and how many sheets 1. Canx2k 4 sheets 2. 3. 4. 5.
Too small for perceived plugs. The time saving option was the most desirable for me per board, any extra I can add myself.
If any of you know someone or another forum who may he interested, please let me know, my reach is rather limited, I think many of you may have connections to where these can be used. Also the boards make excellent siding for cottages and murals for n scale scenery.
You might want to post something on the IRCWCC Yahoo page if you want to reach more people. Yahoo! Groups
Hrm, I think there are 2 problems you'll have with this. 1) is that most of us only detail to the 'looks good at 12ft away' level, if that. So planking that you need to be 2 feet away to really have stand out, doesn't make much sense for that, especially not at 40-60$ per ship extra in cost. 2) is that you need to add to your projected costs the $$ to ship the stuff again. If member Y wants 4 sheets its going to cost some amount of money for them to be shipped from you to him, and depending on your unstated per-sheet savings it may make more sense for Y to just go order his own.
It really is less about savings and more about bnl having sales for their effort to me, I'm perfectly fine doing it on my own, just thought something nice for our hobby, everybody's looking for somethig new
