Well, not really. Just to help me decide on hulls to build in 1/96, after Mogami, which will be made this fall since I will already have main turrets done for it.

You get 3 votes from the following list. If you have shipyard plans of something not on the list, that you can send/sell to me to use, then you can do write-ins.

    The list:
-IJN Hyuga (BB)(WW2 version, faster and bulged hull)
    -IJN Takao (CA)
    -DKM Bismarck/Tirpitz (BB)
    -DKM Scharnhorst (CA)
    -DKM Lutzow (Deutschland class CA)
    -SMS Seydlitz (BC)
-HMS Warspite (QE class BB) (WWI version, more guns)
-HMS Dreadnought (DN, who'd have thunk it?
    -FS Jean Bart (BB)
    -FS Dunquerque (BC)
    -FS La Galissoniere (CA)
    -USS Argonaut (V-4/APS-1) (SS)
    -USS Georgia (BB-15)
    -USS Connecticut (BB-18)

    Thanks for taking the time!

    My votes

    1. USS Connecticut
    2. HMS Warspite
    3. IJN Takao

First one was easy, second was a toss up between that and the Dreadnought, third was just a shot in the dark but I do like the IJN CA's.

Yeah, Dreadnought has some interesting firing arcs. 8 12" on the beams and astern, 6 12" dead ahead. Warpsite has less on the centerline, but the broadside is better.

    Tugboat,

    Here's my votes:

    1) IJN Takao -- my favorite cruiser, with lots of guns and torps
    2) DKM Lutzow -- decent power in a small package
    3) IJN Hyuga -- lots o' firepower, plus a big pagoda bridge!

    Thanks,

    Carl

My selection would be for boats that you don't normally see a lot of.
    1) HMS Dreadnought (where would the hobby be if this one didn't start the race of battleships)
    2) SMS Seydlitz
    3) USS Connecticut

Will you also be making the winning hulls in 1/144 scale?

I will be making everything that I can in both scales. The only ones that won't get reproduced in 1/144 from my 1/96's are hulls already being done by BC, Bob, and Ralph.

    1) La Galissoniere, because it looks like a decent light cruiser, with good armament and acceptable speed.
    2) Deutschland, because it is a decent heavy cruiser that is simple to arm the primary battery (good for beginners), though slow
    3) Warspite, because it is a cool ship with an amazing history, and plenty of options for armament (main battery, secondaries, and torpedoes)

Dreadnought also is a cool ship, but I don't have four votes :( It has an interesting history and plenty of armament options. It also provides a challenge to computer engineers to design a fire controller or turret director

You're already doing Mogami, so I don't see much need for more Japanese cruisers. For the battleships, the only one that I know much about is the Warspite. Since i always imagined 1/96 having an emphasis on cruiser combat (1/144 has lots of battleships, 1/72 has lots of destroyers), I put the cruisers higher on the list than Warspite. Mikasa and other pre-dreads might be interesting to build in 1/96.

Though the speed rules will have to be tweeked for them. Bumping them up to 22 knots is a bit extreme.

The Connecticuts and some others hit 19 on trials but most were hard pressed to hit 17.

True, but the point of the minimum is to let the slower ships at least pretend to play with the modern ones :) Realistically, even a dog of a WW2 slow boat will still be faster than 22kt.

Its really not an issue until we get the crazy idea do to a pre-dread's only club. Until then I will happily take the extra knots.

Heh, me too. At this point, I'll be happy to have 5 ships from BS show up on one lake/pond/mud puddle for a battle. And then to have 10, and then 20... :) After we hit 50 then I'll worry about GWF vs Hochseeflot vs Grand Fleet :)

I'm really looking forward to BS actually having a battle, even if it's late fall or spring!

    Any other Voters out there?

I don't think a submarine would be good so early on in the life of a new club. Forming a new club is like cooking dinner. Battleships and heavy cruisers are the main dish, with light cruisers and destroyers as the salad, and transports for dessert. A submarine would be good spice to add to battle later for flavor, but it should not be the main course.

505... Not to put too fine a point on this, but you talk a lot like PewPewPew, and you have an identical IP address. Are you sure you're someone else?
