It is with great pleasure to welcome again back to the rock Paul (bb26). We hooked up today and I was able to show him the progress on Bismarck and the other projects. We did discuss IRCWCC NATS for this year. Paul offered a way for me to get there. I would fly to Halifax and from there He and I would travel to the Nats and share expenses along the way. By using his Airmiles I could fly return to Hfx and back here in St.John's. The big logistic is getting a ship there. What ship to bring and what equipment. Well Bismarck is built for Ircwcc and is nearly ready from her refit. Bismarkc would be the choice with a second choice of Von Der Tann as a Second back up boat. I got into this hobby with the soul purpose of participating at a Nats event with my Bismarck and it's well long overdue. So what a way to bring the old fella out of retirement and bring it to Nats. I think I can swing it. The savings in the flight alone will make it workable for me.
Question. What is Bismarck rated as in IRCWCC these days? Is it a still a class 6 with 6.5 units or has that changed?

This year is at Conron, NY. Let me know if there is anyting I can do to help. Perhaps mailing the ship would be a way to get it here safely.

Sweet. What is the site like there? Had brunch with Paul and his wife today and I confirmed for him that YES!! I will take him up on his offer and will be attending IRCWCC Nats. My ship will be my old veteran Bismarck refitted for 7 units and still wearing her battle damage from all the years of combat within Nabs. The hull is freshly resheeted and the internals are all brand new. New Cannons and a new PUmp, all new electronics and I finally can get rid of the old AM band TX and use the Futaba 2.4 ghz Transmitter. So old and busted will become the new hotness.
What is the ruling regarding the number of sidemounts for Bismarck?

This will be my first time attending this event but bb26 told me what a great time he had. Were both making the trip there. He's going to take 2 ships. I plan to ship Bismarck to Halifax and we will load it in the PT Cruiser. Look out Carl and Marty... here I come.

The pond is a bit smaller with a couple spots to wander off to, It's a little deep and mucky (but we're not going there to sink :) in spots. We are staged in a house (boy scout camp) with a large 20x30 tent outside at lakeside. The pond should be fairly clear. The nice thing is we can leave the boats out or work on them right up in the house. It makes set up and break down real nice. Sounds like a lot of newness in that old timer so get some shakedown time in her. We ought to have 2 yammers, a littorio and my bis with maybe another thrown in for good measure. Kinda like a fight in a phone booth. Plan gun placement for near and dear, you will probably be going sides with a bunch of sodaks and nc's, an iowa thrown in for good measure. You can have 2 guns per side, I split my other guns ( the back ones) up but I will also have the ability to fight duals there... I don't think there will be too much room for speeding away so get the Bis to turn and start and stop if you can. (Same things I have to work on with mine)
This year is going to be a blast!!!!
    I can't wait... and it's only January...

Sounds great! Looking forward to that. Right now I have SINGLE sidemount slighty angled forward on the stbd side, B turret is a single sidemount, C turret is a haymaker single unit and D turret is angled from the stern facing aft as duals. For ease of isntallation in my Bismarck I have room to set up another cannon in A Turret. That would give me a dual sidemount there. So the forward arc would have A turret dual sidemount, B single sidemount and the Aft arc would contain the exact opposite. This gives me the best possible coverage for most scenarious both defensively and offensively with a well balanced firing positions for Range and In close furballs. There would be no safe areal to pull up alongside or cut in front or behind. Porcupine effect. The pump will be a new BC pump off a 540 or J600 motor 6v.
For spare parts I have a spare drive motor, servos, blow out discs for the Co2 tank, spare Co2 tank, requlator basically everything I need for Bismarck for spare parts during Nats just in case. I plan to have a Go Pro Hero Camera attached to Bis so I can film the action from the deck of Bismarck.

I been trying to attend this since 1994. I don't trust my memory so a nice video recording of the battles and the people the entire event will be well worth it. Then I can retire Bismarck.....not likely. I will probalby do it again but bring Yamato down.

I sent an email off to Stephen of Strikemodels to see if I can get Bismarck's superstructure as a replacement cause once it's done with Nats there won't be anything left of it. It's currently swiss cheese and it needs to be replaced. The secondaries will remain and after Nats will be replaced with the ones from Strike models as they are molded exaclty the same but bb proof though not termite. The Termite 2ndaries are too large and don't fit on my Bismarck. They look squat. Same with the Main turrets almost square as opposed to rectangular. I can use the Termite turrets and 2ndaries for my Tirpitz no problem there but there too large for Bismarck. Good thing Strikemodels has them available for the Bismarck kit. I can replace them after Nats. What I would do is keep the old superstructure and use it for battles and have a pretty 2nd one for cruising and displays though I find the old one with the hundres of bb holes lodged in various sections and visible get a lot of attention.
