Hello World! I soon will have an ABS Hull. Thinking ahead to covering the balsa over the penetrable w/ silkspan and dope. I have a fear of the nitrate or butyrate melting/deforming the hull, acetone you know. Just read the threads of lacquer, love the thought of 1/5th the cost. Would love some stories of real world experiences.

I cover the hull with gorilla tape first, cutting out windows for the penetrable area, then put contact cement on the tape. Contact cement does not melt the ABS, but using tape makes removal easier when the sides need to be replaced. The tape method is covered in the video here.
