Hello all, I have a question, is anybody a pro with Adobe? I found some great free plans that are in .pdf format, the only problem is they are the wrong scale. In addition, they are designed to be printed out on A4 paper or on a plotter, with a minimum number of sheets. Is there any way to resize them before printing them out? Or am I struck printing them out on 80 sheets of A4 paper, glueing them together, and then heading off to Kinko's to have them resized and re-printed. Which is a hassle because my local copy jockeys aren't too bright or willing to help the wierd guy who likes old ships. Thanks in advance
Adobe can export to an image format, so you could export the pages to images, stitch them together and then resize the compilation and save it in your format of choice. I don't know of any way offhand from within Adobe to stitch them together and resize. If you're willing to wait some time (day or four, depending on how busy life gets) I can play around with them for you and get them in to a composite image at the least. Email me ( nwmyers at gmail dot com ) if you're interested.
I may be able to do something with them. Depends on what was done to them before they were posted. With full version of Acrobat you can export to .tif which is readable and editable by almost every program.
If you like, I can give them a crack. I have been able to rescale pdf files before. I have some superstructure prints that I have converted from a PDF file and I am changing the scale to 144th.
Thanks for the info guys, The plans are from Navarin.Ru and consist of several sets of plans for Russian Predreadnoughts. They used to be free to download from the site, however, they appear to be no longer availible. I did a little checking in Adobe, seeing if I could export the images, however, the documents have the security settings enabled, so unless you have a password, all you can do is print them. Which sucks, but thats ok, I can still print them, assemble them and then have them resized.
Easier is to run it through a pdf program that doesnt respect the security restrictions. Ghostview for one.
I have used the print screen fuction before as well. Then pasted the page into a graphics program like CS3. Fine edges and color is lost if pasted into the Windows(TM) paint program.
