Was wondering if anyone is using these and how they r holding up?
    I found some locally(Atlanta) for $24 each.

The following info is from the sales rep:

Type: Direct acting, normally closed, 2 or 3 way valve
    Size: 2.44" h x 1.1" x .75"
    Weight: 2.95oz
    Voltage: 6v
    Power Consuption: 6.5w 1A+- at 6v)
    Orifice size: 3/32" + or -
    Seal type: Viton/Nitrite/
    Pressure rating: 200psi
    Ports: 1/8" NPT
    Response time: 11-13ms
This would work for our systems would it not?
    Thanks, Craig:D

Yup. Both the 6v and 12v versions. They work fine, fire as fast as KIPs, and only cost $23 each for the 6v/$25 each for the 12v. Size wise, they are the same as the KIPs. Weight wise, they are lighter than the KIPs.

I switched to them two ships ago and haven't looked back.

Spartan only sells through retailers. The one I ordered from is:

    Cross Fluid Power
    4400 Piedmont Parkway
    Greensboro, NC 27410
    Phone (336)856-6000 Fax (336) 856-6979
The part number for the 6v is 3823-07-A281. May want to confirm that before placing an order. They typically have to build the solenoids which may take a couple weeks after the order is placed.

anyone else know of a different place to buy them. I went to the website RichelieuBB has and either they intentionally make things hard to find or I'm just an idiot...maybe both.

You could go to http://www.spartanscientific.com/request-a-quote. They will send the quote to a supplier which is nearest to you. I'm getting mine from Cowper Inc (http://www.cowper.ca).

I got a shock today. I requested a quote from USPlastics for solenoid part number and description
    Spartan 3827-070-FA81A 6V 2.4mm orifice NC valves
They wanted $41.09 apiece (that's ordering 4 which is supposed to give you a 10% discount) plus shipping. I think I would rather stay with Kips at that price.

Very little differance between the 3823 and the 3827. The 27 looks to be a tiny bit smaller but both have the same specs. USPlastics is just adding markup. Like 90%. Goodness knows how much they want to ship it.

Spartan Scientific takes the quote and farms it out to the closest distributers to you. It is up to the distributers to contact you with the quote.

    I've used this company before:

    Cross Fluid Power
    4400 Piedmont Parkway
    Greensboro, NC 27410
    Phone (336)856-6000 Fax (336) 856-6979

Not sure if they still handle the Spartans, but wouldn't hurt to check.

After another round with USPlastics it seems they had given me the wrong pricing (oh really? That was the rube pricing perhaps?) The quote went from $164.36 to $73.98 (includes 10% discount for ordering 4) neither quote included shipping so the fat lady has quite finished singing yet. 2-3 weeks lead time which is to be expected.
I'll let you know how it turns out.

Yes when I asked for a quote they gave the telephone number of a company in NJ. So in response to your inquiry they should give you the closest distributer. Now that they seemed to have the prices straightened out you might try WWW.USPLASTICS.com get a quote from Amber. She can reference the quote she just gave me # 4211827
