in the process of cleaning up my workshop I came across 3 old guns that I purchased more than 10 years ago but never fired. Do these things have any internals that go bad / wear out over time? I have yet to locate the barrels but just wondering if I should scrap them or save for a future project.
They will work fine. Put a few drops of paintball oil in them and hit with CO2 a few times with no barrel , then load and fire. then add barrel and run a few mags through. If they don't work , take apart and trouble shoot. I have a number of these - work just fine.
What.... stuff lost in clutter in shop.... I have no idea what u r talking about... YEAH, right. you should see my place. good luck
Don't put oil of any kind in your guns!!!!!!!! Those look like Battler's Connection guns. They will work just fine. The piston will be stainless and the spring some non-rusting material that I can't spell.
If you find some rusty BBs in them. You could think about running some gun oil through them and shoot a bunch of new BBs through them to remove the oil and or rust.
Funny story. After night battle in 04 Pat Clark had a couple of glow sticks left over. A couple beers later we thought it would be cool if you could shoot the glow stick liquid out a gun. We thought it would look like flames. A spare gun was soon hooked up in my room and the glow stick cut open to be poured into it. Sure enough in a dark room it did look like flames and left a glowing spot on the towel we shot into. Come to night battle 05. Pat has three glow sticks ready to dump into his So Dak triples. Before battle his fills up his guns. But firing them on the pond was not like in a hotel room. You could not see anything. The next day he had to take his guns apart before battle and clean the piston, spring, mag... as the guns no longer fired. The glow stick liquid was not kind to the parts. Everything did clean up, but what a pain. I now have that So Dak in my basement and the guns are in Matt's ID.
A little Air Tool Oil or Paintball Gun Oil (aka oils designed/formulated for a practically identical use) is good to run through you CO2 system, including the cannons, as part of regular maintenance. You don't have to use a ton. It isn't going to hurt them, gum them up, or make the BBs sticky. I've done it for years of heavy battling, no ill effects. Other types of oil can leave sticky residue or gum things up depending on their formulation and intended use, not all oils are the same. The quick drop in temp from the expanding CO2 can cause issues for some oils and the additives in them for instance. Chem Light fluid, well that's a different story all together. No idea what's in that stuff. Dump a couple down a latrine sometime and watch people's reactions when they come out.
Yes, I chose one more fitting to my new fleet. Banzai... noo.. nooo..nooo.. Pip Pip cherrio!!! (that hurts my fingers to type it..).. this is making my tummy feel weird
