    Guys,
I'm looking at getting three Tower Hobbies NiCd 6-Cell 7.2V 1800mAh Stick Standard and three Tower Hobbies NiCd 6-Cell 7.2V 1500mAh Stick Standard and three Tenergy NiCd 7.2V 2200mAh Battery Packs. But I always the moment have One Radio shack 3300mAh battery, one venom 1800mAh and one Duratrax DTZ 3800mAh. but the charger i found for them is: Duratraz Onyx 210 AC/DC Peak Charger w/LCD. I"m just not sure how far down i can run my 7.2volts, i have 3 -6volt batteries tha I know i cant run past 4.5volts! 9- are NiCd and Three are NiHM batteries! thanks for any help!

The general rule of thumb for Nicads and Nimhs is to not run the battery pack past 0.9 to 1 volt per cell. So for a 7.2 volt, 6 cell pack you would stop at 6 volts. However, you don't damage Nicads and Nimhs with low voltage like you can damage SLA or Lithium batteries. The low voltage cutout was generally used to ensure you had enough juice left to fly back to the runway. So as long as the voltage doesn't get low enough to reverse the voltage of one or more cells in the pack, you don't need to worry about it.

I don't really like that charger, typical of car chargers it is very limited in it's battery type and charge rates. I've never really liked car chargers, I guess I'm an airplane snob. If you later get lithium batteries you will have to get a new charger. Chargers that will charge all types of batteries and have more adjustments are available for the same price.

    Mark,
I'm not sure if i'm ready to get into those types of Batteries!! I"m the type of person, who like to stay with the older stuff! Plus, I like the RC car batteries!
