I would like to discuss scheduling a Battlestations event this year.
I could host one here in the Dayton area.
We would need to figure out when everyone could make it.
I live fairly close to the Dayton airport, so can schedule transport
for anyone needing to fly in.
We would have the run of the house, and boatshop, so that we can avoid the costs of motels and such.

If anyone else hosts an event, I will try to attend also.
But I really want to have a battle this year.

keep in mind that most of us will have to drive (due to large boats and I'm not sure how airport security would react to our boats. I know that they WILL NOT allow CO2 bottles on board) but I'm interested nonetheless. most likely 3 of us would carpool from my area. By late summer early fall Matt's Iowa should be done, Jeff's Massachusetts and I plan on having the I-400, Musashi, Yamato, Shinano, Shimakaze, and possibly Artemis and a Liberty Ship. Which reminds me, Tug I'm gonna ask now that you make 6 main turrets, 6 secondaries and 16 of the enclosed 5" mounts so that the 3 sisters can be properly fitted out, and the sooner the better:)

Quick note; airlines will not allow filled co2 bottles on board. Empty ones on the other hand seemed to be ok as long as you can show that it is empty. :)

Ive had trouble even with an empty one in the past, its easier just to ship them. But I do check my boat and most of my tools when I fly and I've have never had trouble with that.

    Mikey,

I'd love to come to an event up your way, but am not sure I can swing it this year. A lot of it will depend on the date.

    Mark,

I look forward to seeing your fleet in full deployment!

    Thanks,

    Carl

Not sure I can get away from work long enough to drive that far. Someone had proposed a battle in the south (like Louisiana or Alabama). Is that a possibility? (scheduling so as not to conflict with the Northern battle)

    South is good.
I plan to try to attend any and all Battlestations events.

I couldn't agree more with that.
I think the French ships might need to go out with half full magazines, just to give the axis a fighting chance. Hehe.

I was going to do Tirpitz, but with the preponderance of Axis might, I'm torn between USS Washington and USS Alabama. Alabama is a bit shorter, but armament- and speed-wise comparable.

I was hoping you would build an Alaska, but the key is to build the boat that you will be happy with.
Washington, and Bama would be compairable on the water, but the Bama would be an easier build, and easier to transport. Not trying to talk you into one or the other. Just some thoughts on the matter.
    On another note.
I am not so sure the axis will be all that much stronger in the beginning.
It all really depends on who gets what on the water when..
I will post something on the other topic in a minute about that, just to give us a better understanding of how the teams are shaping up..
    See you all there.

You must do the Tirpitz, so far out my way the allies out-number the axis 2-1 (the ships I'm building are not to be sold, so I'll only be using 1 at a time. might lone them out to interested members at battles, and will give one or two to my son)
