Aircraft or marine grade plywood. I would think a minimum of 7-8 plys. Check out the following links. I have used the top one for 1/4" and 1/8" (actually 6mm and 3mm) and was satisfied overall.

    http://www.woodnshop.com/Hardwood/Baltic_Birch_Plywood.htm
    http://www.boulterplywood.com/MarinePlywood_4.htm

NOTE!! Many (if not most) 3/8" high quality plywoods with a decent price are actually 9mm because they are sourced from overseas!
Based on a length of 820 ft for Bismarck you get 10.25" of impenetrable area/ribs. Remove 3" for the bow and stern and you have 7.25". In 3/8" ribs that is 19.33 ribs. In 9mm ribs that is 20.48 ribs. Something to think about before ordering.

So you are building a ship in Canada using AUSBG rules. A Bismarck is 823ft (251m) long. In our hobby that is 68.58in (1742mm). The waterline measurement is what is used to determine "vertical" solid are, meaning ribs and impenetrable stern and bow area. At the waterline Bismarck is 793ft (241.6m) long. On the model that is 66.08in (1678.43mm). You get 50mm of impenetrable area both bow and stern. Total used=100mm. That leaves 1578.43mm of length to divide up for ribs. You can have a 3/8in (10mm) rib with a 76mm space between each one. Divide 1578.43mm by the sum of 76mm and 10mm (86mm). That gives you 18.35 ribs. If you only have 17 ribs then you are easily "safe".

    Hi Lloyd,
Just curious as to why you are building to big gun rules. As far as I know the nearest club to you is in Washington State, the WCC and they are IRCWCC. I am on Vancouver Island and am also IRCWCC.

Odd, there are constuction rules on the IRCWCC website, I have been to them often and have downloaded them too.
If you go into the members section and the rules are there on the right side of the screen.
As far as I know there is no one else between you and me, and I have not been able to find anyone else.
One of the guys on this forum, the name Phil comes to mind, mentioned there used to be guys in Alberta somewhere but they haven't been heard from in a couple years.
Are there any hobby shows in your area? that can be a great place to find people and to show off the hobby where you are to try to generate some interrest.
