as of right now yo cannot. they have to be built specially. but a fast gun cannon may work for what you want to do

yes but the firing speed rules still apply.

How do you set the fireing speed?

Personally, I use a custom-built 555-based timer to regulate my firing rate...but others just count, (sometimes very quickly).

the cannons are set up so that you pull the "trigger" aka which ever button on your controller you designated to do so, once and it fires once. each caliber has a specific time limit that the operator must wait before his/her next trigger pull. The problem with fast gun cannons, based on my limited knowledge and research into them, is they can occasionally spurt fire or fire more then one ball at a time. This is illegal in big gun. The fast gunners on here can better explain how to prevent this and how to set up your cannons.

Darren, I am interested in your built in timer. do you have a thread on here that explains it?

How does the trigger system work ? Do you use a servo or something ?

Some people use a servo that presses on a manually-operated poppet valve.

Have you ever seen an actual one of these things working in person or pictures of how they are supposed to work? (not you tug we all know you have :p)

Also, you may need to de-tweak it a bit to meat the penetration/velocity rules. Also not legal in AUSBG - they start at 3/16" I believe.

By the way, it appears (only partially tested, as the radio is not in the wild yet), but you may be able to set the firing interval on the transmitter with a FRSky Taranis, once they come out.
You could also make an interval enforcement out of a Picaxe 08M (or now, the newer, better, faster, cheaper, 08M2), probably easier than with a 555. I use the www.techsupplies.co.uk/epages/Store.sf/en_GB/ Picaxe 3-4 servo controller board in my fire control Assistant to take direction frm a Master turret, and range from depression, and control signal for slave, and, if the slave can engage the Master target, does so automatically. If it cannot, it returns to its commanded position. This is a general purpose microprocessor, cheap and easy to work with, and could easily be set up as a fire control interrupter. Programs in BASIC (not C), aied at young students, not engineers, and the programming interface is free to download and play with. it also has a very active forum for help.
Nice thing, the circuit board is already designed. A little soldering, drop in the program, and done.
If building into the TX, probably easy as well, but just use the smaller, cheaper, www.techsupplies.co.uk/epages/Store.sf/en_GB/ Axe 231 module could do the 5v switching at the TX fire button.
Probably mechanical ways to do so as well.
However most people just fire the gun, count "one mississippi, 2 mississipi for however many mississipis they need" to themselves, then fire again.
I belive someone over in the AUSBG also has developed an interval enforcer that is (or was) for sale.

    Cheers,

BC sells firing boards that can enforce ROF limitations, currently they only have boards for treaty (2 shots/sec) but if you need a different rate for Big Gun they can get those for you as well.

I am in a BIG GUNS club and my little Liberty ship is armed with a single fast guns BB cannon. My firing servo is a little on the small side so I have to level it away from the fire button then to the fire button to make it fire. So there is plenty of lag between shots.
