I am fooling around with a modification of a few existing guns to try to come up with something workable for Big Gun on a budget. My question to the Vets out there is what would a "standard" combat load reasonably consist of in rounds per gun? (I am building a Lex with 8 armed 16's)

50 rounds per barrel is about the standard load.

The guns that RC Engineer has produced hold 400rds in a double stack 4.5" diameter magazine, never have emptied one in combat, but with the ships large enough to hold more propellant, I'd hate to have to call five for running out of ammo.

my VU could comfortably carry about 100 rounds per gun. The hardest part about them (and multi-layer guns in general) is ensuring proper feeding. Many of the magazines I have seen can jam if they are loaded too close to their maximum capacity.

I talked with Mark about his cannons on Saturday. He said his will hold 225 rounds per level (450 total). So putting 400 in them is not filling them to capacity.
