All I was able to get tonight off from work. So the boat-shop is now open. I will be out there working on boats till around midnight or so. We can get an early start on both Saturday, and Sunday, and stay pretty much as long as we want. The movie list for tonight will be. Shakespear in love, Bed of roses, and Love affair. Movies for Saturday.. When Harry met Sally, The King and I, and Always. Movies for Sunday.. Dirty dancing, The Goodbye girl, and The American president. Hey. What can I say? I need to get some work done on the boats.. The big battle is less than a week away. Mikey
There is some serious ship-building going on here. Phill is working on the USS Pennsylvania. Mark is working on the USS Ohio. Dustin is working on his Mogador (battlestations). Bat and I are working on Matt's USS New Jersey (battlestations). And Matt is working on several of these ships at the same time. We just had some hot chow, and most of us are getting ready to get back to work. I was thinking about slinking away for a nooner. I shouldn't take breaks to eat in the middle of a build-session. Nikki called, and we passed the phone around, so that she could get up-dates from everyone. Phill asked if we could throw in at least one of his non-chick-flick movies from his collection. So I think they are watching Heartbreak ridge. Or maybe it's broke-back mountain. I can't remember. Something about mountains. Anyway. Back to the boat-shop. Hope everyone else is making progress.. Mikey
We are building today. Phill is here working on his Baltimore, and South Carolina. I am working on the Alaska, and Ohio. Matt is working on something to take on the Ohio. I will post some photos later. Mikey
Mark was able to drop in and show us some of his molded turrets and stuff. He also has the little French pre-dreadnaught. Matt decided that the axis team needed something that could give the USS Ohio some competition at the October battle, and decided to have another go at the H-39. So Phill, Matt, and I all got to work on getting the big German back in shape. So it looks like the two titans will go at each other in Xenia. Mikey
We had a great build-session today. Dustin was working on his battlestations Mogador. Matt brought up his fleet. The Hindenburg (H-39), South Carolina, Utah, and it seemed like at least one more. Phill was here working on his Baltimore cruiser, and his French carrier Bearn. I was working on installing the internals in the USS Ohio. We watched a couple good war movies, and were able to make a lot of progress. But then we put in Young Frankenstein. At that point, we had to take all of the sharp instruments away from Phill. We had pizza for chow. Great time chatting up the boats. We start again around 9am in the morning. Mikey
We had a truly great build-session yesterday. Dustin was tinkering with some superstructure stuff. Phill was doing some touch-up painting on his Tirpitz, and helped others with some electronics stuff. Mark brought up one of his Takao kits, and started assembling it. Eric brought up the Queen Mary, and was working on the radio and electronics. Matt brought up some electronics stuff for one of his boats, and his Utah. Blair dropped in with Matthew's Bogue class escort-carrier, which is framed up. I took photos, and generally just chatted up the boats with everyone, and watched the movies. We watched Captain America, 1941, and a couple others that I can't recall. We chatted up the boats a great deal about who was running what next season, and how the teams stacked up. Mark also had his HMS Queen. One of the Bogue class ships, so that Blair could have a close look at it. Mark also brought up a 96th scale Baltimore. And Matt had his Revenge class 96th scale battleship to show off. Both very cool. As it turned out, some of us where out there until after 9pm. It was a grand time indeed. It was great seeing everyone again. It has been a while. Or at least it seems like it has. We will start trying to put together a build-session schedule shortly, so we can do it some more. Mikey
Hey Mikey, when you do the big two day build, Do you need me and my mom to bring anything other then my LST? Nikki
I can't think of anything that you would need to bring. We will have all of the stuff for sheeting, and such. So we should be good to go. Mikey
I will have a look at the calender, and try to get back on track with holding some build-sessions at my boat shop. I will also try to attend those being hosted by others. Especially the local ones. Mikey
All I spoke with Josh and he is trying to schedule a build-session in the Cinci area so that we can meet a gentleman that was stationed on one of the German pocket-battleships during WW2 It looks like it will be in August, and he mentioned the weekends of the 11-12, or the 18-19. I will keep you posted. Mikey
All We had a great build-session yesterday. Dustin was working on his Battlestations Gustov. Installing the bow torpedo tubes, and such. Phill was working on his P-cruiser and other boats for Treaty. Mark dropped in and was showing off a grunch of stuff that he has been working on. He has finished the re-fit on the DKM Lutzow. It is looking very nice indeed. He also had a PT boat hull, and deck for Battlestations. Very cool little boat. I think he said that it was actually bigger than his fleet tug in Treaty. Bat was able to hang out with us for a while and catch up on what everyone is building and running now-a-days. I was working on plumbing the main cannons for my Battlestations Strasbourg. Matt was not able to attend, but called to see how everyone was doing. It sounds like we are in pretty good shape for the Battle this coming Saturday. Mikey
All I spoke with Josh again about meeting the German Gentleman from the Pocket-battleship, and he mentioned trying to se the build-session up in Cinci on August 19. I will post an up-date when I get the confirmed date and location. Mikey
