    Using fast gun WCC rules

If I were to build a King george V class ship. Can I mount a side cannon in one of the smaller 16 5.25 inch cannon emplacements? I'm not sure if I have to use a mouting point on the model that housed a bigger caliber gun.

    Thanks,

    Stu

Normally the cannons must be placed where the main armament was located.
There are exceptions for Rodney and the frog BB and BC. (but only for a stern gun)

The best bet for a KGV class would be 4 stern cannon, and a rotate if you can make one work.
Note that quads are a pain the stern to tweak. For a rookie boat I would suggest a smaller boat than a class 6.

Swampy is taking orders for a very short time- you could get an I-boat. Or for the Geman look, BattlersConnection has VDT.

question, I hear a lot about the power of the triple stern gun. Is the quad stern gun of the KGV better or no?? I know for triples they usually just elevate the center canon and angle the 2 outer ones in to make a nice little group, does this work with quads??

How many ruders does KGV get??

KGV gets a single rudder. If your club is willing to make a special allowance and you really want a quad, look into the French dreadnought Normandie. It was laid down (possibly even launched but not fitted out due to WW1), but the sister Bearn was converted to a carrier and the others of the class were broken up before completion. Technically it is not a legal boat in fast gun, which requires that ships must have been completed, so you will require a waiver to play with your local club and can't play at nats. It has a quad in the bow, amidships, and in the stern, as well as twin rudders, and I think it gets 5 units (I did the calculation a while ago).

KGV's can be nasty if one gets behind (in front of?) those quad stern cannons. The only problem with it though is the KGV's single rudder doesn't make it turn as fast as other dual rudder ships. The KGV can still be successful ship if battled smartly.

Quads can be extremely effective, ask Pete D who placed a spread of them on the waterline of my Fuso the last sortie of 2007 nats. Two big hits amidships. He seemed pretty pleased at least. ;)
