I am intersted in making a carrier, but have not had any luck finding plans or drawings. They could be any size, not worried about the scale they show, I can fix that. Just wondering if anyone knows of some good places to get them.

If you are interested in American carriers, go to this site: http://www.hnsa.org/doc/plans/index.htm I think it has about a dozen of the Navy's orginal general ships plans for carriers. I'm working on a Bogue class CVE, using plans from two different ships posted on this page.

@both you know that the French navy site has plans for MN Dixmude, which started life as a US CVE?

Thanks for pointing out the French carrier. It's a modified Bogue class with the front elevator removed and half the hanger deck gone. Interesting modifications. Well, it should make my Bogue kit desireable to the local French fanatics I battle with! Mark

Dixmude used to be HMS Biter, part of a 4 ship class (HMS Dasher, HMS Biter, HMS Avenger, and USS Charger) of CVEs... found plenty of pics on the US Navy Historical Center site (unsurpisingly, they're on the hard drive :) ). So if you sell the kits, and some people want to do that variant, there's plenty of reference material. I did spend a little time this weekend trying to work out how to do the drawings for laser cutting on Alibre Design Express (DKM Leipzig). Kind of a steep learning curve, but the weather outside is ugly so I'm inclined to stay inside anyhow.

The design makes more sense now that I know it pre-dates the other escort carriers.

Try the plans master George Goff. I had him do a set of plans for the USS Wasp cv7 and he did a nice job!

Beware the plans of Goff... There are noticeable errors in several of his plan sets and he does not respond to polite communication nor does he apparently correct said errors after such communication.

Yeah, like the Bretagne plans which are actually Lorraine plans (after the mid turret was removed), however its the only source I was able to find for a reasonable price that showed the refit config.

I was more meaning things like several plans NOT being to scale (needing to be zoomed by 120 to 133 percent), or the Vanguard plan view being 1/2" too narrow...

Only others I know of is Taubman plans and they get pretty pricey. And floating drydock but they are limited to mainly american ships and haave to be resized for our scale.

I've ordered Essex class plans from strikemodels...they haven't arrived yet, but I'll let you know how they turn out. Previous plans from them have looked good, though, and they have multiple carrier plans available.

I for one would be VERY surprised if you weren't happy with something from Strike...

Patience my friend. =] I think Stephen emailed you this, but he was leaving for an electronics conference and fast gun event right as that order came in, so it hasn't gone out yet. He'll be back tomorrow and back at orders on Monday and will keep you up to date. Tugboat, thanks for the kind words. And we do want to hear if something's not right, so we can fix it.

Oh, Im not worried about it. I've got a fair amount of building right now to work on before I move on to the stuff from the new plans. Just seemed like ya'll had a reasonable variety of carrier plans to point out.
