bring them to fedex kinkos and have them scale it up for you. Or you can do the old(very difficult) graph/grid idea. I advise Kinkos.

Tugboat,I would like to try and get it to 1:144 if I could. Then I could use it as a convoy ship

Hey Chuck, a 1/144 tug would be ideal for the scenario John C. and I have discussed. He's building Siamese gunboat Sri Ayuthia as an unarmed convoy model. It was sunk in a battle with French forces in 1941, raised and towed to Japan for repairs. The scenario is to have the Allies try to sink the ship under tow while the Axis defend it.

I have some tugs in 1:144, French and German mostly, but they could be used for anyone I suppose... The German one has minelaying rails, too...

    To convert to 144 scale -- divide 50 by 144 --
    50 / 144 = .3472222

Now multiply by 100 to convert to percent = 34.72%

So reduce your plan to 34.72% of the original

    Check your math. A 1/96 boat is 50% larger than a 1/144 a 1/72 is 100% larger than a 1/144 so 1/50 is 140% larger

Frogster, I'm missing the math error... reducing the 1/50 plans to 34.7% of their original size will make the resulting images 1/144 scale... and a 1/50 is not 140% bigger than a 1/144, it's 288% of the 1/144 size.

    It's a trick of the numbers. 150 is 150% of 100, but 100 is 66% of 150.

scale you have is divided by scale you want.

To convert from 144 to 96 you enlarge the original to 150%
    (144 / 96) * 100 = 150%

To convert from 96 to 144 you reduce the original to 66%
    (96 / 144) * 100 = 66.66666%

That reminds me I need to resize my Graf Spee plans from 1/200 to 1/144 and my POW plans from 1/128 to 1/144
