    Hey guys,

I'm considering doing a BB (probably either QE or Ise),

What do I need to be able to do to battle with you guys as well? Electronic speed controls are planned, so that shouldn't be too hard to slow it down to your speed should it? Anything else required?

    Kenny,
You need to be able to slow the ship down as you stated, regulate the rate of your pump and the rate of fire of your guns. The final thing is you need to have fun.

Going 1 thousand 1 bang 1 thousand 2 bang 1 thousand 1 bang 1 thousand 2 bang. Doesn't get any cheaper than that.

Kenny, Both ships would do well in Treaty Combat. I sold a blue foam hull to Alan I think of the Queen Elizabeth in her WWII configuration.
I like the Ise as The step deck is very far forward. Either way, in Treaty every ship has a purpose and we really don't have that "killer ship list". It's nice to be able to build a ship because you like it.

Well I'm not positive I'm building one period, but thanks for the heads up and advice - I just wanted to make sure they'd be legal so I can battle with you guys from time to time!

It looks to me as if "Treaty Combat" has short list of ships that would do well- and rather shorter than MWC/IRCWCC. This may be because I am somewhat unfamilar with the some aspects. But the use of speed by scale speed, would seam to make the WW2 capital ships have an increased advantage over the WW1 type dreadnaughts. And not counting dammage would seam to make use of a cruiser (or other stern gun only ship) ineffective.

As you guys are actualy playing by these rules- how does the reality actualy work? And why?

    Specialist,
To be honest with you it is much the opposite. We don't have the "super ships" chasing down ships that were historically faster. Let's face it, no matter how much tail wind a Yamto, North Carolina, Nagato or King George had, they could not have run with a standard WW2 cruiser or and Iowa. With this format a ship gets what it deserves. If you want speed, you have a good sized list of ships to do. If you want to have a decent all around ship, there is a very large number to chose from. If you like the older dreadnoughts (which I've battled exclusivley in Treaty) you can build it and be competitive. What I have found, running a Konig class ship, is that yes I can not push the battle due to my speed. But if someone wants to battle me they come into my turf, turning. I have been ganged up on by an Invinsible and Strausburg and survived. If I had 25 more BB's I might have even sunk the Strausburg. You have to think outside of the standard parameters of the other groups. With some ships, what would be the standard gun configuration in the other groups is going to be of limited value with Treaty battling due to it's make up. Example, we had a Renown run in our last event and he did quite well. That ship in the other formats would have been sunk within the first 5 minutes. She had the speed to avoid ships like mine and is manoverable enough that she won't get creamed by a Bismark. At our large August event we'll even have a Couragous run out there. So there is no real limits as to what you want to do. Teamwork also helps when things get tough out there, and there seems to be more of that. If you're in trouble by a faster ship, come by the small manoverable battleship. As I believe Curly had stated years ago, you have ships that a preditors and scavangers. Pick with ever ship type you like and go for it. As for cruisers, they are fun effective ships and there have been some discussions to add to there effectiveness.

Our pervailing attitude with Treaty is you drive a long way to battle and have a good time without getting hung up on having to bring your entire shop or latest balsa order to repair your ship every evening. If we have sinks, that's great. We enjoy the combat with longer sorties (due to the reduced rate of fire and speeds), less competition ("...he took how many hits and survived!!!") & less damage due to the reduced pumping capacity and fighting further appart (less de-elevation on the guns). Every ship has a purpose in Treaty battling and overall, with less damage and repair on the ships, more time on the water and with the competition level being decreased due to us not counting damage and only counting sinks makes this an ideal form of battling for those tired of all the damage and reduced time on the water.
