I am new so bare with me i was wanting to know is there a list of who (Captians) has what Crystals so you know which are taken? Paul
If you get one of these you don't need to worry about frequency problems: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXPZT8&P=ML
For now lets just say the MI area but i do travel around a lot so i would probly find out about the others later.
For Michigan we join the MWC. On the application you can write if you intend to get a standard fixed freq radio. The MWC frequency Czar assigns you a freq. If you get a the self seeking radio then it helps the club know that. mwci.org Mark
There's also the Midwest Battle Group, that has several members in Michigan. Don't make the mistake of assuming that small gun is the only game around. JM
Mark & I are both members of MWC, MBG, & DBG. MWC is the by far the active in the area... We will see if MBG picks up.
Why is it everyone wants to buy the radio as the first investment? Seems to me that, due to the time and effort it takes to build a ship, it is better to get the ship built and then get a radio to fit the need, is it not? Especially since during the time it takes to build the ship the radios evolve and prices tend to decline versus feature set. Much cheaper to get a $25 servo tester (or build one for even less) to do whatever temporary adjustments, system tests, etc. as necessary. Or use a cheap car controller for maneuvering tests, if that is the issue. I know more than one captain who bought a radio 2 years ago that have yet to get the ship it was bought for ship on the water. And the 2.4GHz radios have come out with more features than the radios they bought at the time at a similar price. Just my .02, of course, ymmv. Cheers,
