For the 6V version? How long ago was that? The earliest version of the BC website I could find has them listed at $49 in 2007.

No, but they have to be able to handle 150psi. I think the 6V version is custom made, which is probably part of the reason it is so expensive. The higher voltage versions of the same or nearly the same solonoid are usually cheaper. You will have to consult the appropriate datasheet though: http://resources.norgren.com/web_pubs/publicationResults.asp?advancedsearch=KIP&searchmarket=3

Milford, it's probably best to acquire your ship first, then acquire the parts for it. If you buy a used ship, it may come with all of the parts you need. Even if you build from scratch, you'll need to know what ship you're building so you know the proper size and quantity of things to buy for it, such as props, motors, cannons, etc.

An alternative solenoid valve is the Spartan Scientific 3823 series. They come in a wide varity of voltages including 6v at a very reasonable $23 - $26 cost. I've been using them for a couple years now with no issues at all. PN 3823-07-A281 (6v).
