It sounds as if twin direct drive motors are pretty common, It's something I'm looking into doing on my King George V. However, I don’t know how to control two ESCs that are connected to their own individual motors.

Basically, can I control two ESCs with one controller?

If not, then what do you recommend.

    Thanks,

    Stu

I wouldn't bother with 2 ESCs. If you do, they'll eat up 2 channels. If you "Y" them on a single channel, what's the point of using 2?

I always put 2 motors on 1 ESC, with motors wired to run opposite directions.

Most people ive seen put two motors on one ESC, however if you have the space and dont mind the cost putting two ESC's on a Y so each motor has its own ESC works too, and there are some benefits. Such as if one ESC goes for whatever reason you dont lose total control, or they can each be smaller ESCs which might be more practical and cheaper than buying one ESC that has the features you want and can handle to current draw of two motors. People have done it both ways in the past, either way works.
