ok guys I have never used multiple engines before with esc's and want to know do I need one esc for each engine or can I just us one total? This is a 2 engine ship and I'm thinking of using one of the viper marine esc's

    Thanks, jason

The answer depends on multiple things.

If using brushed motors, it is possible to power multple motors from one esc. My early ships used two motors wired in parallel on one esc without any issues. Care should be taken that the total amperage of the two motors does not exceed the amp rating of the esc.

If using brushless motors, each motor requires a single esc. It is not possible to run two brushless motors on one esc.

There really aren't many good reasons to put two motors on one ESC to begin with, you loose to much in redundancy/reliability to make it worthwhile.
