    Hey there Justin... good name!

I would recommend against the flether as a first boat. They are really little in our scale. THAT'S NOT TO SAY IMPOSSIBLE! but wicked tough.

--->Sure a cruiser or ??battleship?? doesn't sound like fun?

ok maybe your right, i did some research and i think i found a good cruiser, the Atlanta Class, is that a good starting 1/144 ship? or the Portland-class.

u ever think of that Cleveland class http://www.battlersconnection.com/html/combatships.html susposed to be a good ship but it all really depends on what format ur going for. Have u been to a battle or have u been in contact with a local club. best to get to that cause once you know that then its easier choosing out a ship

If you're in Sacramento, you should contact the Cal-Neva Combat Club. They have some nice people and cool boats, and are right near you. In fact, they are having a battle on the 10th at Arthur Lake, which you should try and attend. Introduce yourself, ask some questions, see the battles, etc. I can send you directions if you want, just let me know.

For guns, probably your safest bet is to get some from Battler's Connection. They build high-quality, reliable guns according to every report I have heard. Building your own is a hit-and-miss affair, you never know if you'll get it right or not.
