I posted something about this last year. But as most didn't take me serious, and thought I was joking around (which I was to some extent), I just let it go for the time being. But now, with all of this anti-French stuff cropping up, I think it might be time to bring it up again.
I am declaring that by the end of this battling season, the teams will be France against the world.
So you really have just two options.
You can be a part of the French fleet.
Or you can be a victim of it.

What's the difference between a British battlecruiser and a French one?

    The British ships saw combat.

    Jean Bart ........battleship.....6 units.....32 knots.......Mikey
    Strasbourg ......battlecruiser .4.5 units ...31 knots.......Mikey
    Bearn #1 ........carrier ....... 5 units ....22 knots.......Mikey
    Bearn #2 ........carrier........ 5 units ....22 knots.......Mikey
    Gloire ..........lightcruiser...2.5 units ...36 knots.......Mikey

    Strasbourg is opperational now.
The Bart could be in action by September or so.
I could then get either a Bearn going, or the Gloire.

I guess I should be nice. After all many ships sailing from French ports had very successful combat missions and sank many enemy ships. Sadly, those successful ships were all German ships.

    Interesting statement.
As I recall. At Dakar, and Mers-el-Kebir, the difference was that the British were standing off the coast, and fired first, while the French were bottled up in port, and fired back.

At Mers-el-Kebir the following signals were sent to the respective admiralties.

    Somerville's
    Am engaging enemy.

    Gensoul's
    Combat engage contre forces Britanniques.

Just a few weeks earlier, these two great navies had been hunting axis forces together.

The sad fact was that neither the axis, nor the allies could afford to allow the French navy to be taken over, and used against them.
In 1940, the French navy possesed some of the fastest, and most modern ships in the world.
I have said before that the French ships are some of the best in each type, and it will be very interesting to see how they stack up against a combined fleet from the world team.
    Vive la France.

While I will cheerfully make fun of the French whilst stuffing my gaping maw with Freedom Fries... The actions of the French crews in Toulon, taken to prevent the Germans from obtaining the ships there intact, were heroic. Someday, I will have to make it to a Treaty battle :)

You can be French for the day Eric. I'm sure that Mikey has a spare tri-color you can use, and maybe some pink paint.

That would be an advantage to them as well, they wouldn't have to out run my BCs, only out run your dreadnought!

We're doing a September regional battle, and I'm pretty sure we'll do an October and November battle, even if its local.

White surrender flags don't cost units, they are detail to add realism. Battle flags on the other hand are not scale, and thus not allowed.

It cant be proved but I firmly believe that had the Richeleu met the Bismark as an adversary, the Bismark would be hurting, however had even one plane gone after tha Richeleu it would be hurting in its early configuration mabey at F.V.W it will be proven

Personally, I agree with you Phil. I've always thought that Bismarck was more then a little bit overrated. It's definitely over-built.

The French were amazing ship builders, and they had ships near the top of every category. And the Richelieu would have destroyed the Bismark. These views are not biased by the fact that i am french [:D]
