Hey, folks. I was reading on another forum when I heard about the free hull-modeling software, Delftship: http://www.delftship.net/ I have just downloaded the free version, and so far it looks pretty powerful. Apparently in the full version, you can model stability, internal components, flooding, and lots of other things. So if anyone is out there wondering how they're going to generate more rib sections for their next wooden ship, here's how to do it.
The hull design program is cool, great find. I want to try putting it to use to create designs for ships that I can’t fid designs for
I'm sure the rest of us would be interested to see what you come up with too, be kind and share and we can all learn. I'm going to DL this also to see whats up and play with it some, sounds almost too good to be true, well off to play...
I just downloaded the program. Veeerrryyy interesting. The tutorial is a lesson on how to use a jpg of the hull lines to recreate that hull in delftship, like by putting dots on the drawing and having the program draw a fair line between them. Slick. After the battle this weekend, I may try a ship to see if I can get more usable plans from those we have. Some people have asked for pre-generated frames like webwookie made for the destroyer project.
Okay I am going to have to move to the darkside and put Windows on one of my macs to try this thing out. Good thing I can get a free copy of Winderz from work.
Hey guys I am very interested would like to see how you are doing with this I have some plans that need the extra ribs!
I have tried this program and have a hull created, I just can't figure out how to get the cross sections at the ribs out. I have a post on delftship's forum with no response yet. Any ideas?
Hey, guys, can someone email me in installer? I think their webpage is dead, cause I only get a "Internet Explorer cannot display this webpage".
The site does appear to be belly-up. Perhaps not a ringing endorsement for the longevity of the software?
The software was created by people at a University in Delft (wherever that is), maybe the creators have moved on, or sold the software to someone else who isn't working on it at the moment. Subcaptian, I looked, but I think I deleted the installer after installing
I was at the site this morning with no problems. Need to make an accout to download anything it seems though.

hahahahaha, i love that quote. that or this one: "Im not racist, i hate everyone equally" -Lewis Black
It's a free download from delftship.com just register an account and download. I will be later when im on my laptop (on my mobile atm).
