Does any one have hull lines for the British G3s? (Laid down but cancelled after the Washington Treaty.)

I'd like to do the G3 as my first 'hypothetical' hull mold.

    Bob,

I'd bet that NMM has them, but as you already know, they'll put a hurtin' on your wallet.

Other than that, I'll add I'd love to see somebody build and battle an N3 or G3 [8D]

Indeed, that odd turret layout would be interesting.

    Predread,
I think your suggestion of the NMM is the only reliable source of plans. Might have to bite the bullet and spend $30+/sheet of plans plus outrageous postal charges.

    Thanks Klibben,
Hope you can find some hull cross-sections. I've found several recent photos of a 1/96 scratchbuilt G3 on 'Model Boat' magazine's UK website. I think this is the same model I saw in the magazine several years ago.

It has no external bulges and looks like a stretched Nelson, but with outwardly inclined hull sides like Hood's. Overall dimensions are almost identical to Hood's, but with the transom stern the aft lines will be fuller. Will try to contact the builder - the article says the model was a synthesis of available plans and drawings.

    Bad Bob

Sounds like a very interesting project. Is she legal though?

I couldn't find anything in my stash, but one of my buddies thinks he has some so he's taking a look for me!

I find it ironic that they are legal in the format named after the treaty that banned them.

Another plus for that flavour of battling. Kenny is right it is delightfully ironic.

If I can get G3 plans I will build the hull mold. I've wanted to build one of these for years but it wasn't allowed in NABS(IRCWCC).
