does any one have plans that have the ribs laid out for the Gato class submarine or any American ship??? Im building from wood so I need plans of the ribs.
Not exactly what you are looking for, but HNSA has a couple of Balao class, very similar to the Gato, sub plans with cross-sections. http://www.hnsa.org/doc/plans/ss298.pdf
I have them, with the downside that it's only a frames drawing, so you'll have to figure out where the frames go. If it was me, I'd use the width to get them lined up where they go on a plan view of the ship. Send me an email and I'll attach the file, it's not very big (and neither is the Gato!). You building one in 1/144?
Floating Drydock has the best Gato plans. They have copies of the actual builders prints, including hull stations.
I have plans for the USS South Dakota, Lexington, Essex and the USS Iowa. All have hull lines ( aka ribs ). I also have a really nice set of USS Arizona plans but they are copyright. All of those are not scaled, but if I have time I might be able to scale them for you, if you're interested that is. Beaver
I don't think water going down the barrel would be too much of a problem, seeing that none of the water would be able to leak into the sub. Beaver
You will blow the water overboard when you fire, anyway And the water will NOT go any further than the cannon.
Dietzer is selling a set in 1/192. Item number 22. http://rcnavalcombat.com/Forum/tabid/58/aff/534/aft/442242/afv/topic/Default.aspx Beaver
