    I saw those photos decades ago in an American ship modelling magazine. I think that Graf Spee was built in the 1970s and was about 30' long.

    I've always found it interesting that this boat was built to scale but apparently was not weighted to scale as the water line is obviously to low.

    Just think of how much lead it would take to weigh that thing down to waterline...

    You'd be silly to use lead, just use water and have some ballast tanks, that would be pretty easy to do and it would let you empty them to keep it "light" for transportation as well, otherwise you would need a really beefy trailer/truck.
