I have heard of this hobby, but never got the time to figure it out. Now, i'm ready to start, please if theres any teams that are wanting a noobie, let me know.
Hi! Welcome to the hobby! I'm in southeast Georgia, and there are lots of battlers in this corner of the country! Pretty much all the battling in this area is Fast Gun, and we are always looking for new people to join us on the water!
Hello, i'm willing to join Fast Gun, I still need to figure what ship to make scince a have little expirence, but I determine. I'm in the middle part of Florida, next to the Gulf of Mexico. I'm a Private First Class in the reenactment group " 6th Calvary Divison", its been getting really expiencive with the registrations so i'm looking for a new hobby
I _can_ be expensive to get into this hobby, maybe $300-400 for a cruiser, a little more for a battlecruiser. That said, if you can make it to a battle and maybe a build session, you can get some help that can make it cheaper. Any ideas on what ships you're interested in? (Note: Destroyers and submarines are NOT cheap nor easy.)
Fast Guns refers to rules that allow firing only BBs, no rate of fire limit, and the ships move faster than the other major rules set... Big Gun, which the projectiles are ball bearings up to 1/4" in diameter, scaled to the real ship's guns (USS Iowa would fire 1/4" ball bearings, for example). The speeds of the ships are scaled to the real ship's speeds and are relatively slow compared to fast gun. There are other rules sets, too, but those are the big ones. Florida is mainly MWCI (Model Warship Combat, Inc.) people (although many of us are also members of the other fast guns group, the IRCWCC)(Int'l R/C Warship Combat Club) and the rules are pretty similar. But the website for MWCI is www.mwci.org if you'd like to look. Dues are $50 per year, and that includes liability insurance. The form is available on the website, and mailing instructions are on the form. We will likely be having a battle in late January or early February, depending on the weather. If you come up for the weekend, we have loaner boats so you don't have to worry about not having one right away.
