    What are the best guns?
What are the easiest guns to build?
What are the most dependable guns?
I'm not ready for them yet
Probably in about 6 monthes, but I like to think ahead
    And I think too much
    LOL

When you say "guns", do you mean fast-gun cannon, or big-gun cannon? There is a big difference between the two main types. You need to tell us which catagory of ship you'll be running.

O-ring restrictor breech requires tweaking before battle, but can develop higher ultimate power. Tubing restrictor breech makes good power and requires no tweaking. Realistically, I'm only out to penetrate balsa, and the tubing cannons do that fine for me. If you want to do rotates, the O-ring cannon is easier to use as the barrel tends to maintain alignment better.

On my Gneisenau, I have tubing cannons for my triple sterns, and an O-ring cannon for the rotate.

The best guns are those that work.
With no guns your ship is just a target.

    Aside from that.
O-ring cannon are adjustable for fire velocity.
Tube breach require no adjusment- but you can't even if you want to. If they are too weak, your stuck with it.

Both type are about the same to build.
There are many varations on the basic designs.

If you don't want to learn to build them, BC guns are fine.
If you want to build them, then O-ring guns require the least maintenance and are less prone to failure of some sort. Built correctly, tweaking isn't critical. Mine fire quite hard without an o-ring and harder still moderately tweaked. Harder tweaks slow them down, but cause more psychological damage. :)

The trick to building a good, reliable gun is finding someone to show you how.

BTW, I was reading the earlier posts from Buddy on gun power.
    1. I'm surprised a Yamato could win out over a Sodak.
    2. Breaking PVC is the reason I use ABS for my barbettes
    3. Selling complete ships is a bad idea for many reasons. A ship is like a lightsaber, you are really not a Jedi until you construct your own.
