The biggest, most complicated, nastiest ship out there, fully armed with all secondaries and torps.
    No, not really.
The smaller battleships, pre wwII seem to be the best compromise for beginners. They have the best combination of firepower and manouverability, without being overly complex or hard to handle.

Beginners need to find what club, kind of battling and ruleset you would be using. This is based on who you meet up with or what you like the most. Each club recommends different starter ships based on their strengths in that club. Find who you are gonna battle with and then we can help with the other decisions.

    Welcome.
Sorry that I have been off line and could not reply sooner.
What format are you looking for?

There is a BIG Gun group in Virginia.
    Mid Atlantic Battle Group.
You can find us on Facebook at the "RC Warship Combat" group.
We also have a web site MABG.org

We have several ponds scattered around the State of Virginia.

Before getting a boat. Check into what rule set you want to sail under.
In BIG guns they would suggest an unarmed Transport for a first ship.
This way you learn the basics of ship building and sailing.

Use the club finder to see who is near you.

Hope that you have a lot of fun.
