Hello from Spring, Recently found the RC Warship Combat Forum while attempting to track down the Plans and Kit for a 1/144 Scale Bogue Class Escort Carrier. I am a Complete RC Warship Combat Noobie. Though I've been building static models for 40+ years... And RC Scale Boats for about six months. Clearly, I have a Lot to learn. Looking forward to leaning more about this Interesting facet of RC Scale Boating. Regards, -gus
I send you a PM but welcome to the Hobby! I am repeating some of this information so other new guys can see it as well. We have 5 active guys in the Houston area and 4 active battlers in Dallas that I am aware of (not counting folks that bought boats but never built them) and we are all members of the IRC - www.ircwcc.org which is a fast gun group. I am not sure how many members overall but at least 100 nationwide. Right now our group is the only group having battles in the Greater Houston area and our base battle pond is in Rosenberg where we have regional battles. Local battles - guys in town or 1-2 hrs out, Regional - guys from nearby states will drive in, Nationals - all over the country The next build session is in Cypress you can see the info here: Build Session @ Doug's House | Facebook The Brouhaha is the next event we will be attending as a groups (Texas Naval Brigade - guys from Texas) and you can see more info here: Wade's Pond - "The Brouhaha" Give me shout when you can. Johnny
You have experience building models? You're ahead of me! Might have to be your study buddy when I'm in Texas again.
Haha... I don't know fellas... I'm okay with building a Kit, and Some Scratch Building. But I'm Woefully Slow. I'm still trying to get my head around the Electrics over all. But Progress Is being made... Slow Slooow Progress... I did get my Bogue CVE Kit in earlier this week. Still gathering 1/144 scale Aircraft for the build. Got most of the Fighters I need F6F and FM-2's. Still need to pick up a few more Avengers and SBD's. Once the Bogue is off my Workbench I should have decided on a warship to build. After talking with some real nice folks from the Forum, it'll most likely be a Japanese or German Cruiser. Something that would fit in with the Local Scene and Combat Format. As was mentioned to me, "You Don't want to Invest in and Build a Ship, then discover that your ship doesnt fit any Combat Formats near you"... -gus
Welcome You're around some good guys (who are also most capable battlers)... you'll get excellent assistance.
Gus we will be meeting at my house this weekend to work on a German cruiser for Tony. You are welcome to stop by. Send me PM for details if you think you can make it. I live near I-10 and the south belt (8). Johnny
