Hi all, Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Buck, and I'm just scratching the surface on the hobby. A friend of mine at work tripped across some videos on you tube and we haven't been able to stop talking about it since. We are hoping to each put a ship together. Problem is that is does not look like there is a club closeby (50 miles south of Chicago). Does the Midwest battle Group still exist??
As far as I know Midwest has been pretty much dead for the past year or two... although I think they were hoping to revive. I don't really know much about them though, so I may be completely wrong. Buckeye Battle Squadron and Washington Naval Treaty Combat Club are roughly 6 hours away, too far for me but I know alot of guys that drive farther on a regular basis. Since you have two people, at least you can battle with yourselves. Get two more people and you've got an even battle! It'll be hard to learn how to build the boat and set it up if you don't have any prior experience, but with this site it shouldn't be that much of a problem.
We are definitly looking at big gun. We were planning on building our ships to be compliant with the Midwest battle group rules. And yes, we figured if all else failed we could still blast holes in each other!!
MBG is alive, AND is really trying to revive itself. There are several people from MBG on the forum, so if you post in Midwest battle group thread: http://www.rcnavalcombat.com/rcnavalcombat/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=21 They will get back to you. --->PS I'm a former member, but am now in Washington state.
the port polarbear club is real active. I know the twin citys is a long drive but it would be well worth it. I live in la crosse maybe find a half way point to battle.
Glad to hear from you! Welcome aboard ! You are in vited to coem to any battle here with the Buckeye Battle Squadron! Buddy Friend
