    Hey guys,
I have been asked to do a blue foam hull for the IJN Ise in it's 1940 configuration. I have conflicting data. I have the hull width at 111 feet and the length at 708 feet. Is this correct? I have a book saying that both ships in the class had the sterns lenghtened by 28 feet. Can anyone clear this up?
    Thanks,

Conway's list the reconstructed Ise class as 700ft waterline and 708ft overall. The beam is listed as 104ft.

HMCS's numbers match what my favorite ww2 website has.

I'ld be a little careful with using Conway's with the Japanise battleships. It appears that they use the beam at the waterline (example: Conways gives the Yamato a beam of 121 ft and that is the beam at the waterline according to Gorsky and Anatomy references). Length is also a little dicy. We found this out in the Midwest battlegroup back in the 90's.

Does anyone have plans of the Ise they can check? What about numbers from the Yamashiro/Fuso? In a ball park sense, they should allow you to have an idea of what might be right.

Plans were ordered from Japan. 1/200 scale.
Let me guess, you made the deck 121'. :(

Here's what I found on line post 1930's major refit...

    length - 215.8 m (708.0 ft.)
    beam - 33.83 m (111.0 ft.)

If push comes to shove, you could get in touch with Gerald Roberts on this. He'd be the best reference and has the most material on the Japanise navy I can think of.
