forward gun mounts for the twin triple 3/16th cannons that had been made for this boat. they need some work but are mostly complete. this includes new barrells for the forward turret, addition of the rotation servo and drive. barrel clamps and the addition of elevation/derpession servos.

my temporary battery loom to check the existing motors for any issues. they all seemed to run smoothly after the received a bit of lubrication. i doubt the motors had been run for any significant amount of time.

mounting the rudder servo and control arms.

went about making a reel for my float. i have my father turn these up form pvc rod on his lathe. using reel not only saves space but it minimises tangles when compared to the looping in the hull method that some captains use.
as you can see the steel shaft which will be rigid in place/doesn't spin and the pvc freely spins on this shaft.

now with the reel in i did a test fit of the gns and bottle to see how much room i still had to play with which is OODLES!

so now i have the basics required for the boat to function as a boat i have begun to sheet her so i can test run the motors for speed and get it sittting at waterline. i have ordered some pumps to fit and will be having the guns looked at to have the brought down in size to minimise wasted space.

Have you tried the rubber glue method for attaching the balsa to the frame? No need for all the clamps with that method.

rubber glue? where can you get it/ whats the brand and name?
i use quick grip at the moment and the clamps are just to make sure the balsa doesnt come away from the hull.
but if it works better i might need to get some. whats it like holding balsa on sharper curves?

Contact cement. Put on the hull and the balsa and let dry for about an hour. Then push them together, will bond without the need for clamps.

Been using it since '04 here. Normally need to resheet due to gun damage long before any glue issues arise.

yep following the proper instructions of the gel bond and waiting the half/hour it bonds straight up with pressure this is just sometimes i get inpatient and can't wait. thus blowing out the time to sheet a hull ten fold.
