    Hello again,
I was just wondering if anyone has built a York Class cruiser, preferrable the Exeter. I have scoured the site and a few others and can't seem to find anyone who has built one that I can get ahold of. I would like to build a destroyer, but that is a little beyond my capabilities at this point in time, so I figured the Exeter fits the bill pretty well (I think). I would like to build a smallish ship that will not be too terribly tough for a rookie to handle. I am also open to suggestions, although I would prefer a fiberglass hull if possible. I would be building to MWC standards because they seem to be closer to Colorado than others. Thanks for your help.
    Cheers,
    Garrett

I know that one Bart Purvis made three of them many years ago, but no one that I know of is making them in fiberglass. Best to get some plans and wood and build one to set the standard! :)

Doesn't Strike have the Exeter hull/kit now?

    Thanks

I know Krijn from the Ontario Attack Force has one.

I tried to email Krijn once and never heard back. It seems though, that not many people build the Exeter.

The Exeter is a good looking and decent performing ship. Unfortunately, she's not the most popular these days, because her light weight makes her a difficult build, and being a heavy cruiser, she doesn't get the speed benefits that other similarly sized "light" cruisers do.
Examples of similar ships which are more popular/competitive are the Fiji class, and the Gloire class light cruisers.
Most people building heavy cruisers build the heavier ones like Lutzow and Northampton.
    Good luck!

I really I like the look of the model on Strike's page, and the twin turrets. It might be a little outrageous, but I have a hard time having twin gun barrels coming out of a triple turret on the ships. I'm a little OCD like that.
Thank you for all the help guys :)

If you like it, buy it. You'll enjoy it more if its something you are passionate about.

What Chase said. Build what you love and you will be happy with it.

Also, that ship can be very competitive in some formats. In big gun it would be quite formidable with torpedoes and mains.

YEs exactly build what makes you happy, its YOUR ship :) plus looking at the strike photo its a cool looking ship. I cannot speak for the other formats but in big gun it could be very formidable loaded up with torps and mains. plink away scoreing points as yuo set up your torp run and plink some more point running away after your run...

I always pick boats based on PRETTY. Or Funky, which amounts to the same thing in a twisted way :)

I have a friend who is a V.A. Psychiatrist. Perhaps his note would be more apt. :D

Hahahaha that would be hilarious. I'm not sure she would be a fan of it though lol
Thanks for the suggestion Tug. I may have to keep that in mind if I can't change her mind on the matter

    Cheers

Soo... about that doctors note... Just kidding. The treasury should have enough funds to order a ship kit from Strike next week, but still working on the President's approval (the wife). Making headway though.
