This is a build thread for my HMS Queen Elizabeth. I've actually had this hull for several years but never got around to starting anything with it as I always had something else to build or rebuild or re-rebuild. Now seeing several people build ships from the hull has me thinking how I would build her up. Some might question the sanity of building essentially the same ship twice seeing as how I just got my Barham completed. But this wouldn't be the first time I've done it. I mean, I built two Fusos...so what could go wrong?

Hmmm those turrets are sitting in a funny way in the hull, that's odd...

Taped out some Ribs. Cut the bow 2" to 1-7/8" to snag an extra rib for a full 20, yeehaw! Now where to put those dang stringers...

Getting some decks cut out. Using 1/4" fiberboard as main subdeck then cutting out hatches that will be 1/8" of the same material. I've used it in the past with cruisers (mixed results) but I think the QE can handle the weight a bit better than they could.

And the stern deck. Still need to do some fitting and trimming, but you get the idea. Glamour shot!

That's the plan, 75 round in 'D', 50 in 'C', and bow gun in 'B' with a healthy amount of down angle. We'll see how it goes, could be a disaster, who knows!

Make the bow gun a dual, and just leave one pinned when running two pumps... Opens up options. I've had a lot of fun with dual bows in tubby boats.

I might, but I really like mounting coil mags for ease of service which is hard in the barbette.

Got the barbettes cut from 2" Pipe coupling. Also fitted the decks so they can be resined in when the time comes. Did work on a couple other ships today, got tired from drilling 500 or so holes to get the windows prepped for cutting. That's one thick hull to drill/cut but it is very sturdy. Also received two driver boards from strike, so going to get those wired up hopefully later tonight.

So in case anyone was wondering, a Quadra-Trac transfer case falling on a QE hull will break the ship hull.
Fortunately a replacement should be on the way shortly.
