hey i have never built anything to scale before so i was wondering how you know if the scale is right do you pick a certain feature and keep changing until you get that one part to measure what it should and go from there or what lol

I usually measure length and beam on the plans and compare to reputable sources on the real ship being modeled.

know how long your ship really is in real life, if your not shure you can look up the Wika page for the class of ship it should show in feet with linth with waterline such and davide the feet numbers by 12 it will be in decimal form so have a decimal to fraction conversin chart to get the 1/144 scale.
