Hey, folks. I've been painting epoxy in the bottom of several ships to strengthen and waterproof them. It's been nearly 24 hours now and unfortunately some of the epoxy is still sticky. The places where it pooled thick have fully hardened, but the thin areas remain sticky to touch. How do I remove the "stickies" from the epoxy?

Give it another day or to. It should harden the rest of the way.

make sure that it is warm in the room... a warm room makes all the difference in getting a timely cure

I sure hope it finishes curing soon. The room has been hovering between 76 and 82 degrees for over 24 hours, since before I started mixing up the epoxy.

that sounds about right. You are using actual epoxy right? I have worked with cheap polyesters and they would sometimes take forever to cure.

76-82 should be fine... although I have made up hot boxes in the past (it is amazing what foil lined foam insulation and a 100W bulb can do)

I have in the past after about two days of curing still had a sticky feeling to the Epoxy. I normally go over the piece with a cloth soaked in alcohol. This pulls from the surface what ever was causeing the sticky feel to the surface.

This last time I used what I had about the house which was bought at home depot and it did the sticky stuff. When I have used West System I have never had issues.
