As part of McSpuds and I working to update the IRC website, I've been hammering away at the shiplist.

It's got some dressing up to do, yet, but should be functional and SORTABLE. Take a look and let me know what you think:

(Note: Would have uploaded it here, but blocked from uploading .html files)

You should use the IRCWCC shiplist for your data, not the old MWCI one as some of the data is different. The information link should be a the class name hyperlinked so it doesn't take up so much screen real estate. The sorting doesn't work without the js files unfortunately, maybe zip them up together with the HTML file?

Yeah, it's an ongoing "tweak". Good suggestion w/ the link. I'll implement for version 1.2

I agree use the Data from the IRCWCC ship list. I find the data there accurate.

I would suggest you zip it up and then upload it.

It's still using MWC data which is incorrect for the IRCWCC.

Some of the units and speeds are wrong. To be fair the cruiser speeds didn't get updated on the current ship list either.

If you would, please give me at least one specific example....as far as I can tell:
    DD's post 1922 are 22 sec, DD <1922 are 23
    CP's (<1922) are 24
    CL's (>1922) are 23
    CA's are 24
    CAE's are 26
    GB's are 30
BC's, DN's, and BB's are unchanged from MWC.

If there's something on the list that I typo'd, please point it out & I'll fix it. If it's a rule difference, reference it for me & I'll rewrite it (again)

Once I get this ironed out, it will be the official IRC ship list. So the quicker I can get this sorted out, the better.

It would be easier if you just copied your data from the current IRCWCC shiplist and made sure the Bismarck is 6.5 units, and the heavy cruisers were 23sec/100ft. Not all the units are the same on both shiplists. You've also added several ships as a separate class on your shiplist which are not part of the IRCWCC shiplist, but were on the MWC shiplist.

    Status update: http://mcspuds.net/irc/shiplist/shiplist.html

Still needs a bit of appearance massaging. I think I have the data errors Chase was jumping on me about all corrected. I have included all of the "wishlist" items from the website update thread (links to wiki pages, shaft & rudder config, sortable, etc).

I would like two types of feedback:
    1) Any data errors, please let me know and I will correct ASAP
    2) Any styling suggestions (colors, backgrounds, alternating line stripes, margins & padding, etc)

I like how you included Wikipedia links, I had always wanted a 'ship wiki' where you click the link and it brought up a page with more info on the ship as pertaining to the hobby, example pictures (or links) to builds and existing r/c combat ships, and links to external sources that are well known.

If you let some folks like myself or Chase help you it wont take that long.

One suggestion that drove me crazy.. on MWC they listed sister ships or the most well known names on the ship list rather than the class. I am not sure if you listed class or ship names or a mix. I would stick the class and then link to the CLASS pages on Wikipedia instead of a ship name.. small thing but it is handy.

Keep in mind.. we VETERANS all know where to look and how to find info on the ships.. but as a rookie during my research phase... it was very difficult having to search the internet for sources, find the right sources, plans, etc. The one thing that drove me crazy... 'go get a set of plans'... WHERE??? WHICH ONES??? or 'I bought it off the internet' WHERE?? 'Oh just go search the internet'.. HOW DO I KNOW I AM ORDERING THE RIGHT THING??? 'Oh I forgot the part number' - (Ahnuld) - Cmon.. don't Bull**** me

We as a hobby have been around for 20 years... and we still have to have each guy do internet research for every ship they want? We all must do better.

Thanks for the hard work Spuds

    J

I LOVE the list! The easy sorting is especially useful. I agree with Johnny on the wiki links and I agree with him one million percent on using class names vice popular ships from the class.

Not quite clear on this....do you mean each link goes to another sub-page w reference links both to wiki & build threads, and vendors who sell it?

I tried to meld the best of the irc shiplist with the best of the mwc one. And the wiki links are to the class page whenever I could identify one. If you're willing to help out with cleanup, pick a nationality & rock on!

'preciate it....but I'm better looking than Spuddy.

Sigh...and I just now caught what Chase was talking about w/ the CA's. The damn .pdf file has them all at 24 sec, so that's what I put in. The build rules say 23. :bang:

No wonder so many people have thrown up their hands and given up draining the swamp. But I WILL GET IT DONE even if it kills Spuds. :D

Its not just the CA speeds, some of the units are wrong, some of the data is different (weights, lengths etc) between the two lists. I'm nearly done going through the list and fixing it (its amazing how much free time toddlers suck up). I'll email it back to you when I'm done either tonight, or probably tomorrow night.

Excellent! Once we get the important stuff like the actual DATA right, then we can futz around w/ formatting & appearance (aka the fun stuff). Really appreciate you stepping up Chase.
