GENERAL QUARTERS! GENERAL QUARTERS! ALL HANDS, MAN YOUR BATTLESTATIONS! Heads up, everyone, there's Distant Guns on the Horizon, and this time they're setting sail for www.stormeaglestudios.com/public/Ht...ds_v2.html Visit this site The sequel to the award-winning Distant Guns: The Russo-Japanese War At Sea has finally been released to the public. I'm downloading it as I type. You can re-create famous battles from WWI, from Dogger Bank up to Jutland itself, or make custom scenarios yourself. Rumor has it that they've greatly improved the multiplayer capabilities, as well. I'll give you all a full report after I've recovered from playing so much I faint from hunger. Until then, here's a little poem to whet your appetites: I love the touch of the clean salt spray on my hands and hair and face, I love to feel the long ship leap, when she feels the sea's embrace, While down below is the straining hull, o'erhead the gulls and clouds, And the clean wind comes 'cross the vast sea space, and sings its song in the shrouds. But now in my dreams, besides the sounds one always hears at sea, I hear the mutter of distant guns, which call and call to me, Singing: "> And women's tears, and craven fears, are drowned in that monstrous song. So whatever the future hold in store, I feel that I must go, To where, thro' the shattering roar, I hear a voice that whispers low: "The craven, the weak, the man with nerves, from me they must keep away, Or a dreadful price in shattered nerves, and broken health they pay.
That Admiralty is not going to be happy when they hear Kotori's report. He seems to have misplaced HMS Invincible in the middle of battle. He looked away from the battlecruisers for a little bit to deal with some offensive light cruisers and couldn't find her when he finally returned. I suspect that a shell penetrated the turret and set off the cordite, but as the admiral was focusing on light cruisers rather than his battlecruisers, we shall never know. He managed to sink Lutzow with torpedoes and inflict some serious harm on the rest of the Jerries, but he had to break off the battle so he could rest up for working in the shipyard today. The Kaiser is pleased with him, though. An earlier round played as Scheer's BC squadron in a chance encounter with the 3rd Battle Squadron resulted in a total victory: Dreadnought exploded and the rest of the battleships in the squadron were sunk for the cost of a few destroyers and torpedo boats. This game is a blast! Vastly improved graphics over the Russo-Japanese War and greater control over the game play. You can turn on or off fragile British AP shells, British cordite formula (increases the chances of ammo explosion), and adjust the accuracy and damage amounts. We'll see if the game runs on my dinosaur of a computer and then test some of the multiplayer capabilities.
Does it have other WW1 battles? Coronel, the escape of the Goeben, et. al.? What about a secenario editor?
Scenario editor: yes escape of the goeben: not yet, but you've got scenario editor coronel: no. Right now, the fleet lists are only complete for 1916 in the North Sea. Ships sunk before then, or serving in other parts of the world, are not yet included. Although they'll probably be added in a later expansion...
To the best of my knowledge, there are no German ACs present in Jutland. They do have some excellent CLs, though.
I was wondering as they were north sea ships but were not actually in the battle. HSF learned not to use AC's in the battle line after Blucher. Still used the Pre-DN's though. And their CL's were excellent. Especially after they were up gunned.
