Is this a good ship for a beginner?
The reason why I picked this ship is because my son is going with a VDT, so help me
    I'm a newbie
    Thanks

    Steven,
Yes it is a good ship for the beginner. It is also a good ship for an old timer. The ship will play differently depending on which format it is used in.

Hopefully I will get in to scraps
I don't know which format it is and by the way this ship had torpedos on it
Can I use that as something to think about and does a pump count as half a unit?
The other half means less amo for a gun

    That depends on the format.

SCRAP is MWC. So, fast gun (I know you already knew that Bob, I was saying it for Steven's benefit :)

Konigs are 5 unit 28 sec dreadnoughts, so you get 4 guns and a pump. Also, in MWC (which SCRAP is part of), you don't get to arm torpedoes, just guns. BUT, I think that the Konig is a fine ship, and remember, no one else gets to arm torps either so you wouldn't be at a disadvantage.

Pumps can be either 1/2 unit or 1 unit depending on their capacity. Goto battlersconnection to see both versions.

You are correct Tug. I know what SCRAP is but did not pick up on it the way Steve had it. "scraps"
We had a scrap here in Red Lion last week. I am glad to say that I was the only ship not to sink...

There are 1/2 unit pumps, the Konig is too big to use one, under the rules he'll be battling under (Assuming he meant SCRAP and not scraps... lol Bob, we both read it and got different meanings. Upon re-reading, I think you had the right one.)

BC has a nice Konig hull in fiberglass, too.

    Tug,
That is one thing that is very hard to get from emails. Things can be taken in the wrong way.

Konig has excellent manuverabilty, and good fire power.

It would make a good axis slugger type, at 28 seconds.

In ponds with restricted area (smaller ponds) it could be very effective. On larger ponds, faster boats will tend to avoid it, making it frustating to use.
The VDT types having a bit more speed, have more flexabilty on what they can do. Two VDTs might be the beter idea. Then you could do the very effective team work thing.
Also VDTs don't have twin stern guns to deal with, making them more beginer freindly.

    Thanks for all the info
I'm going with the Konig and my son will get the VDT
The reason I am gong with the Konig is because most of the parts fit the Scharnhorst the class 5 and that's the ship I want to build eventually
    Thanks again
    Hopefully we will talk soon

Good thinking! Scharnhorst, very nice. Best looking ship ever built.

I think so, too :) Although I'm biased because Gneisenau is my current fast-gun-battling bathtub toy :)
