just a cool idea with all the laser cut kits becoming available, I thought it would be cool if someone designed laser cut kits for one of the big ocean liners like the Olympic, Normandie, or Queen Mary. I know they are large ships but it would be cool to have kits for these to see more of them around Jason
You wouldn't see as many as you think... they're huge targets. Most convoys are about 2/3 that size or smaller, easier to protect, more maneuverable.
You can get a fibreglass Titanic hull (just a hair longer than Yamato) but you'd need to have it cut in half to ship to the States: http://www.dreadnoughthulls.com/Titanic.htm
Of course, if you packed a titanic hull with other hulls, each smaller than the last, you could get a whole fleet in one delivery, lol.
I plan to build it for my wife, we were married aboard and have spent countless hours prowling her decks below. At 8 feet long, I'll have to make her in two parts.
It's big. Really big. I helped build one. Nope, bigger than that. Still bigger. It's EVEN BIGGER THAN THIS! The Queen Mary is not just the biggest boat, it's also the heaviest. The guy I helped build his model had to use huge zinc anodes from full-size ships to ballast it. I don't think it ever saw combat, due to fears of how to recover the ship when it's got probably several hundred additional pounds of water inside it. I also got run over by a model of her rival, the french Normandie. That was fun.
