liberty ship build

    ok ive decided that for my first ship i will build a liberty ship, guns and all. does anybody know where i can get free plans as far as th hull, top decks, superstructure, and cargo holds? im building it in 1/144 scale if any have measurements.

    I actually want to build one as well so if anyone could post the rib sections in 1:144 scale that would be awesome.

    I think I have Victory ship plans, but I don't think I have Liberty ship plans.

    thank you mark im now probably going to start building a hull, question: best type of wood to use and how thick?

    The notches and the fill calculation are based on 1/4 plywood. I have a local source of Baltic Birch plywood that I like to use. The best generally available plywood is aircraft ply, usually available from your local hobby shop. I don't recommend the plywood you would get at your local home supply store - too many voids and flaws.

    Thank you and last question for the liberty ship as this is a build thread, what is the recommended length of the stuffing tubes?
    just some of the basics as i will be now building one for my target ship

    I planned to terminate the stuffing tube at rib 10, so to extend from the back of the keel to rib 10 it would have to be 4.5". Only one stuffing tube is needed.

    alright so last question if i order hardware kit from BC would i be ok or should i tell them to modify it so its 1 tube, i havent done much research in the liberty ship and i think i will post my own build thread today.

    You don't have to modify the hardware kit to just get one prop - if you get two then you can build two ships - or have a backup.
