That sounds about right. Not sure how much bigger you can fit on there.

I am helping Heiko with this build, hence the questions. We are thinking 550's on gearboxes, then a stinger on the pump. Height should not be an issue as there is superstructure above the deck we can use to protect the pump motor.

a stinger in a cruiser? That seems a bit excessive, no?

Can sizes are the same, with tripples he *could* get into situations where he needs the extra pumping. At least it is not a titan motor :woot:
He is going from a z-boat to a cruiser, with good care the stinger might make it to a battleship one day.

ok, got an answer from Stephen: he recommends 1.25" 3 blade with 35deg pitch but with 395s...i'd like the 550s on gear boxes. think that 4 blade 1.25" and 27 deg pitch give a nice drag. i'm pretty sure that before i buy the final props i can get some for testing .. but 1.25" in diameter it is. Lou, i sent you the shopping list... do you agree?

    Stinger motor
    http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJE43&P=7

    bottle at strike:
    TANK-3 2.8 oz CO2 Tank (on/off valve)

    $40.00
Does this hold the same amount as the standard 3 oz bottles? The size of the bottle appears to be a little smaller, will this hold enough for a triple stern?

    Regulator at strike:
REG-V2-1032New Variable Regulator with output reducer for 10-32 connections

speed controller, wait until we have tested this one.

They are smaller than the usual 3.5oz. Might be OK depending on gas usage but it doesn't leave much room for error, I'd go with a 5oz personally

I see no reason to use 3-blade props.

For motors, you're limited to speed 23, 550's are total overkill. I can see doing it for the pump can size if one doesn't like brushless :)

sounds good... some questions... and more to come...

5OZ is fine... gives reserve. is the additional weight a problem?
think we were putting the traxxas servo for testing the height and it was ok so far even if very close with the height. will the HS servo also fit?
what is the toothsize of the hub gear? is your's a 48DP, too? it seems to be bigger... more like a32...
we ordered in our company today from mcmaster ...have to wait when we will order the next time. so i go with the shafts that i put on the list...
what BEC? the normal or the pro?
Stephen also said that 550s are overkill and he would recommend 395s... MTR-395... anybody experience with that motor? i'm a 550 fan ;)
regarding the gear box: what ratio is recommended?
didn't know that the stinger is a traxxas 540... and has 20turns... i think i have a similar motor if not even this one already...

    i'll put the orders together...
