I have heard from various sources the maryland had below-water torps, one on each side. Does anyone who has conway's know where they were? Do you think it would be worth it to equip them in big gun?

Not a lot of replies to this one so I will
we have a WW1 Sodak with them and the space they take up for the rate of fire and effectiveness isn't worth the hassle. You'd be better off spending the money and space to arm one or 2 of the secondaries on the sides as you get a better rate of fire and can use the splash to track your mains onto target.

I wonder if that is it? That hole there sure isn't an anchor well, and I don't think it's a bow thruster either.
As far as arming torpedoes, I would recommend against it. Certainly if they're in that position, they are almost useless as point-defense against torpedo-boats, and that's all that torpedoes are useful for on a battleship, anyway. Especially if they're only singles. You would be better off arming a secondary bb cannon or two on each side, or better yet, put fast, positional-control rotation on your guns and get good at picking off torpedo-boats with your rear guns. Remember, it is more important to have reliable, easy-to-maintain systems than it is to get every last little gun armed.

Here's a closeup on the same spot on USS Washington, the uncompleted sister of Maryland:
